This week (starting Friday, ending Thursday) was chock-full of movies. Let's see, where to begin....
Thursday before last was Nightmare Before Christmas, as I already said. And then this last Wednesday Vanessa and I went and saw The Descent and Snakes on a Plane for $3. Two movies for $3 dollars? Heck yes--we need to do that more often. We went more for SOAP than TD; for TD we were just kinda "eh, probably not a good movie." So, we went, got lots of free posters, and they showed TD first.
The Descent.....was a damn freaky scary movie. I didn't think it was going to be that frightening. Vanessa didn't think it'd be that frightening. But damn, IT WAS! Aside from the monsters, it was very similar to The Grudge. We both left the theater with hearts racing and a bit jumpy, and Vanessa is the type of person who can sit through the Saw trilogy, Hostel, and all those other types of movies without really batting an eye.
Snakes on a Plane was incredibly fun, and at one point someone who worked for the theater got out of his seat with a stuffed snake and ran around the auditorium screaming, "Ahh, snakes! Snakes in the theater/plane! Ahhh!" Everyone laughed. Plus we were clapping at the ridiculously corny parts, and EVERYONE quoted Jackson when he said, "That's it! I've had it with these motherf***ing snakes on this motherf***ing plane!" Was muy entertaining. And the music video at the end for Cobra Starship's "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" made me appreciate the song so much more.
Vanessa's birthday on Thursday went rather well. Lots of people remembered her, and she made other people cookies, whcih baffled them, hehe. And when we went to the midnight premiere of Saw III, we didn't even miss any roads or exits going to the theater! That always earns some bonus points.
Saw III...was rather bloody. And had a slightly different vibe to it compared to the first 2 that kind of set me back, but when the end came around the different vibe made sense. But Bellevue (upper? downtown? don't know exactly) where the theater was at reminded me an awful lot of downtown Olympia--same to Vanessa. That made us feel a bit better about driving around in the dark.
I got about 5 hours of sleep, and as a result I actually went ahead and got a French Vanilla latte. It wasn't bad, but I still prefer Pepsi as my source of caffeine. Korean was smooth sailing, but there was a dialogue we had to do, and I kept stuttering, which I fear made the teacher think I didn't know the lines, which is stupid. I only had two lines to do, which are translated as, "Yes, there are sandwiches and ice cream," and "No, there is no chocolate." So, we can see how it would be idiotic for someone to not be able to memorize those lines. Then Vanessa and I cleaned up our room so that it wouldn't reek when we got back Sunday, whiled away an hour, and then went down to PLU to pick up Nicole and hang out with Jared. Nicole liked her bday presents very much (a little mini-"Executive Desk" gong that doesn't have the deep brass sound and a Learn-to-Play the Harmonica kit), though I'm afraid her roommate is going to want my blood before winter break comes around -.-' And Jared was very happy with his two movie posters that Vanessa and I got him (Running With Scissors and The Return). Then Vanessa drove Nicole and I down to Lacey, where my sister picked me up and took me home. I also had her swing by Double Joy, which is an AWESOME teriyaki place.
Saturday I got up around 11:30, had an hour to wander around my house aimlessly, and then Mom, sis and I went out shopping. Mom went to a salon to get her hair done, and we went to the Tacoma Mall and wandered. She bought two anime movies, and she was a very nice sister and bought me my Christmas present early--Dirge of Cerberus, Final Fantasy VII! ^.^ I don't know how much I'm going to play it, since it's a first-person shooter game, but....IT'S FINAL FANTASY. She also later went out and got me the helpbook to it, so when I start it Christmas break I'll have a better chance of liking it, but we shall see. We went back to the salon, picked up mi madre, got lunch/dinner, went to the Korean store and bought some stuff, and then went to Mervyn's where I got some very nice black heeled boots. These are my first pair of heels ever, so I'm very excited.
Sunday at home was pretty tame. And then my sister drove me to school, and stopped by Costco to pick up some Jones Soda Energy Drinks for Vanessa because they were the only place that sold them.....BUT THEY WEREN'T SELLING THEM! I was very disappointed. I also forgot camera film, which means I'm going to have to see if they sell it on campus somewhere. We went by the bookstore to pick up my sister's books, got some Pagliacci pizza, and she dropped me off at my dorm.
I brought up all 10 seasons of Friends, because I may be up here one weekend and decide "I need a Friends-fix. Let's have a marathon of Friends!" The problem with this is that I have no room in my bookcase for 10 DVD box sets AND my books, so I had to do some creative rearranging. They now all fit, plus it forced me to organize my desk a bit. This sentence is going to cause my roomie to shake her head, because the way she sees it my desk was already organized. *shrugs* I keep telling people I'm OCD--they just don't believe it.
And now I sit here at a loss as to what to write. Maybe I'll go and play a video game.
Goliath: Now, once again, what are you doing here? Please... try not to fall off the building this time.
[The Gargoyles try to fly a Helicopter.]
Broadway: You sure you can fly this?
Lexington: Hey, it's just like that simulator game back at the tower.
Brooklyn: Famous last words. --Gargoyles (*sigh* I miss the good ol' cartoons...)
